South-east islands by speedboat
A speedboat day in the south-east lagoon: Île de la Passe and its old fort, Île aux Phares, snorkelling, the Grand River South East waterfall and a barbecue lunch.
From Mahébourg or Pointe d'Esny, speedboats tour the islands of the big south-east lagoon: Île de la Passe with the ruins of its French and British fort (scene of the 1810 Battle of Grand Port), Île aux Phares and its lighthouse, snorkel stops and, on many tours, a run up the coast to the Grand River South East waterfall. Lunch is usually a barbecue on an island.
A full day, best booked through a well-reviewed operator. The '5 islands' tours from Trou d'Eau Douce cover a similar set from the east side.
