In the hills above the south-east coast, the old hunting estate once called Domaine du Chasseur (now Le Domaine d'Anse Jonchée, with Kestrel Valley next door) covers forest, ylang-ylang plantations and steep valleys. Javan deer roam the slopes, the rare Mauritius kestrel has been reintroduced here, and the viewpoints look down over the Grand Port lagoon.

Activities change over the years (walks, 4×4 tours, a restaurant with a view): call before going.
