Trou Kanaka crater
A 45-minute to 1-hour walk through the tea plantations of Bois Chéri to a perfectly round, forested volcanic crater.
Trou Kanaka is one of the best-preserved volcanic craters of the island, a deep green bowl hidden among the tea fields near Bois Chéri and Grand Bassin. A track through the plantations leads to the rim (45 minutes to 1 hour each way, mostly easy), with views over the tea country and the southern mountains.
Much quieter and wilder than Trou aux Cerfs; combine with the tea tasting at Bois Chéri.
