Sophie Nature Walk (Mare aux Vacoas)
A free, easy 1.8 km nature trail in the cool uplands by the Mare aux Vacoas reservoir, with a small visitor centre, a museum and picnic spots.
Sophie Nature Walk is a forestry-service trail at Plaine Sophie, next to the island's largest reservoir, Mare aux Vacoas. The 1.8 km loop runs through tall trees and along the edge of the water, with information boards, kiosks and picnic tables; the visitor centre has a small museum about the forests.
It takes about an hour, it's free and it's cool up here: a peaceful stop on a plateau day.
