Snorkelling at Pereybère
Easy snorkelling straight from Pereybère public beach: swim out along the rocks at either end of the cove to see reef fish in calm, clear water.
Pereybère's small public beach sits in a sheltered cove of the north coast. The water is calm and clear most mornings, and the rocky edges of the cove, especially on the northern side, hold coral patches with plenty of reef fish (sergeant majors, butterflyfish, wrasses, sometimes a moray eel hiding in the rocks).
No boat needed: bring your own mask and fins (or buy them in the shops across the road) and swim out from the sand. Go early: from late morning the cove fills with swimmers and glass-bottom boats.
