The Rivulet Terre Rouge estuary was the first Ramsar wetland in Mauritius: 26 hectares of mangroves, mudflats and shallow water at the mouth of a small river. From October to February it hosts over a thousand migratory birds (whimbrels, grey plovers, curlew sandpipers) that fly in from as far as Siberia.

A small, simple site with paths and a hide: bring binoculars and go at low tide in the morning.
