Île aux Cerfs & the Grande Rivière Sud-Est waterfall
The most famous island trip: a speedboat to Île aux Cerfs's white beaches and lagoon, with a stop at a waterfall in a river gorge.
Île aux Cerfs is a small island off the east coast with some of the island's most photographed beaches and a huge shallow lagoon. Speedboats from Trou d'Eau Douce take 15 minutes, often via the Grande Rivière Sud-Est, where a waterfall tumbles into the river.
The main beach can be crowded with day-trippers; walk 10–15 minutes along the shore to find quieter spots. It's a long day from the villa (1h30 each way).
