Bras d’Eau National Park
A quiet coastal forest on the north-east coast with easy trails, old ruins, an orchard and birds at the Mare Sarcelle pond.
Bras d'Eau is one of the island's three national parks and the least visited: a flat coastal forest with easy marked trails. The Coq du Bois loop wanders through an old orchard of mango and litchi trees; the Mare Sarcelle pond attracts birds like the Mauritius paradise flycatcher and the Mauritius fody; and there are ruins of old lime kilns.
Free, peaceful and shady: combine it with Poste Lafayette beach or Belle Mare.
