Black River Gorges: riverside walk from the lower entrance
The closest forest walk to the villa: from the Black River Gorges visitor centre, a flat path up the wooded river valley to the foot of the big trails.
The lower entrance of the Black River Gorges National Park is 15β20 minutes from the villa, at the end of the road from Grande RiviΓ¨re Noire. From the visitor centre (maps, rangers, toilets), a wide track follows the river up the wooded valley, almost flat, to the junction where the Parakeet and MacchabΓ©e trails start climbing.
About 1.5 km each way: an easy hour among tall trees, with the cliffs of the gorges above you and monkeys and birds around. Fit walkers can continue on the signed viewpoint trail (about 3 km return).
