Curepipe botanical garden
A quiet colonial garden in the cool upland town of Curepipe, with rare palms (including the world's loneliest palm) and a little lake.
The botanical garden of Curepipe was laid out in the 1870s in the island's highest town. Paths wind under old trees, around a small lake, past rare endemic plants, including the palm Hyophorbe amaricaulis, of which only one wild specimen is known in the world.
A peaceful hour, often cool and misty: combine it with the Trou aux Cerfs crater and the town's colonial buildings.
